I'm new to Vista. I installed a program that changed my jpeg association to itself. I didn't like it and uninstalled it, but it didn't restore the association of jpg files to Windows Explorer Preview. The "preview" command is still avaiable from a right click on the file, but the doubleclicking opens a "open ...

Does Windows explorer still use the SHFileOperation for file operations in Vista? I guess I could try to do an API trace, but I figured I would ask first.

I don't know what is causing this but it has something to do with how Explorer is handeling right clicks.
If you select a bunch of different files (like 100 or something), and want to access the context menu, it takes ages until the right click menu comes up - but then the Explorer window gets focus again (without any user interaction) and ...

I couldn't live without the taskbar menus that show the contents of a folder when you press the double arrow.
Unfortunately, when you e.g. have the computer folder as a whole in a taskbar menu and you browse to a folder that contains tons of files, like the fonts folder in windows, the whole explorer is hangs badly for a while.

Does anyone happen to know if it's possible to group applications on the Vista taskbar together (which I love) without causing them to stack when crowded (which I hate)?

Please add "Path to clipboard" option to right-click context menu - it would elimate the 'browse-to' aggrevation.

I was so surprised to see the Image Resizer being ignored in a VERY digital world that we live nowadays Powertoys of XP have been faves of mine, and it was surprising to see none of them incorporated as a standard context menu item in Vista. Never loose an old version of a file again. With Previous Versions, Windows Vista will version your files when you make changes.
